ConnectiCare to Provide Members With 24/7 Access to Doctors
FARMINGTON, CT (December 16, 2015) – ConnectiCare, a leading Connecticut-based health plan, is partnering with MDLIVE to offer access to medical consultations and mental health therapy sessions by phone or through a secure video connection established through a mobile application or computer. Many ConnectiCare members will have this expanded access to doctors and therapists 24/7 starting January 1, 2016.
MDLIVE’ s national network of board-certified doctors can treat a variety of minor illnesses including cold and flu, allergies and headaches and can send a prescription directly to a member’s pharmacy (when appropriate). MDLIVE users can get prompt care from the first available doctor or schedule a future appointment time with a doctor of their choice.
MDLIVE’s national network of licensed therapists can assist members with various mental health issues such as sleep disorders, anxiety and depression and eating disorders. MDLIVE users can search for a therapist based on several criteria including specialty, license type and gender. Similar to scheduling an appointment with a doctor, MDLIVE users have the option of scheduling a therapy session with the first available therapist or scheduling a future appointment with a therapist of their choice.
MDLIVE doctors and therapists have an average fifteen years of practical experience with a variety of specializations, including primary care, family medicine and pediatrics, child and adolescent counseling and couples and family counseling.
“When a member needs care, they should have peace of mind that a board-certified doctor or licensed therapist can be contacted after hours, on weekends or when they are traveling,” said Dr. John Harper, ConnectiCare’s Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. “Telehealth is a convenient, less expensive way for members to easily get the care that they need.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with ConnectiCare to provide its members with another means to access quality care when and where they want it,” said Randy Parker, President and CEO of MDLIVE. “Working with ConnectiCare we are furthering our mission of delivering exceptional care, provided anywhere.”
