ConnectiCare Names Dr. Wayne Rawlins as Vice President and Senior Medical Director
FARMINGTON, CT (December 3, 2015) – ConnectiCare, one of Connecticut’s leading health plans, is happy to announce the appointment of its new Vice President and Senior Medical Director, Wayne Rawlins, MD, MBA.
Dr. Rawlins will be the clinical lead responsible for enhancing ConnectiCare’s health care management programs. His focus will be on improving members’ access to care and health outcomes, and reducing medical costs. Dr. Rawlins will work closely with physicians and other health care professionals so that ConnectiCare members get the high quality care they need.

Prior to joining ConnectiCare, Dr. Rawlins held several senior leadership positions at Aetna, where he was the Chief Medical Officer for student health. Prior to that, he served as the lead clinician focused on identifying activities to address racial and ethnic disparities in health care. He also held the position of National Medical Director and head of medical operations for Aetna Government Health Plans.
Dr. Rawlins, a nationally recognized immunization expert, is a member of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee, where he works with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to advise and make recommendations on American vaccine policy. Locally, he serves as a member of the University of Connecticut Health Center’s board of directors, Connecticut Science Center board of trustees and was previously the Board Chairman for the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
