HARTFORD, CT (October 24, 2018) – Sanitas Medical Center and ConnectiCare announce the opening of a new primary care center to meet the healthcare needs of Hispanic and other diverse communities in Hartford. The center is strategically located at the meeting point of the heart of the city’s Latino community in the Hispanic Health Council building at 175 Main Street in Hartford.

The new Sanitas Primary Care center provides comprehensive and culturally accessible primary care services for the entire family focused on convenience and personalized care. In addition, patients will have access to programs in wellness, prevention and disease management with dedicated nurses, nutritionists and care coordinators, designed to address the health care needs of this local community.

ConnectiCare and Sanitas launched their alliance in 2016 to provide coordinated health insurance and healthcare services to local, often underserved communities. The initial medical centers were opened in Newington and Bridgeport. The Harford expansion in the Hispanic Health Council building will help establish a convenient option for primary care services for this local community, often with some type of government assistance for health coverage such as Husky Health, ACA exchange individual/family or Medicare Advantage.

“Latinos represent the largest minority group in Hartford and at the same time have serious health challenges including disproportionately high rates of diabetes, asthma, obesity, HIV/AIDS and cancer,” said Dr. Fernando Fonseca, Sanitas USA Chief Executive Officer. “This is a unique opportunity to integrate our primary care services with the broad range of social services delivered through the Hispanic Health Council to improve timely access to quality primary care in this community.”

“We believe primary care is the key to creating healthier futures for Connecticut residents. We are pleased to partner with Sanitas to increase access to care here in Hartford,” said Robert Kosior, Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer at ConnectiCare.
