ConnectiCare and local yoga studio owners recently launched the popular, annual summer program, Yoga in Our City. ConnectiCare became the program’s presenting sponsor in 2013, and since then Yoga in Our City has expanded its reach from Hartford to New Haven, Bridgeport, and Waterbury. This summer tradition provides local Connecticut communities, including residents and families, with access to free yoga classes taught by local studio instructors.

FARMINGTON, Conn., July 26, 2019 – ConnectiCare and local yoga studio owners recently launched the popular, annual summer program, Yoga in Our City. ConnectiCare became the program’s presenting sponsor in 2013, and since then Yoga in Our City has expanded its reach from Hartford to New Haven, Bridgeport, and Waterbury. This summer tradition provides local Connecticut communities, including residents and families, with access to free yoga classes taught by local studio instructors.

“There are many health benefits associated with yoga including stress and pain relief, heart and joint health, and much more,” said Kimberly Kann, Senior Director, Public Relations and Corporate Communications at ConnectiCare. “We are proud to support Yoga in Our City. The free classes have gained popularity each year, and we will continue to work closely with our studio partners to engage participants of all ages, skill levels, and genders.”

 

Hartford studio partner, Vasu Tribe Studios, leads yoga sessions six times a week at the following times and locations:

 

  • Mondays – 5:30 p.m. – Bushnell Park
  • Tuesdays – 5:30 p.m. – Elizabeth Park
  • Wednesdays – 5:30 p.m. – Bushnell Park
  • Thursdays – 5:30 p.m. – Elizabeth Park
  • Saturdays – 10:00 a.m. – Pope Park*
  • Sundays – 10:00 a.m. – Colt Park

New Haven studio partner, Breathing Room Yoga Center, leads yoga sessions three times a week at the following times and locations:

Bridgeport studio partner, Great Heart Yoga, leads yoga sessions twice a week at the following times and locations:

 

 

The City of Waterbury’s Bureau of Recreation leads yoga sessions twice a week at the following times and locations:

 

 

The free classes are open to everyone; all ages and levels are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring a bottle of water, a towel, and a yoga mat.
