Wayne Rawlins, M.D., M.B.A
Vice President, Chief Medical Officer
As the vice president and chief medical officer, Dr. Wayne Rawlins is charged with enhancing ConnectiCare’s health care management programs. His focus is on improving members’ access to care and health outcomes. He works closely with providers to ensure that ConnectiCare members are getting the high quality care they need.
Prior to joining ConnectiCare, Dr. Rawlins held several senior leadership positions at a national health insurance company. A leading immunization expert, he is a former member of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee, where he worked with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to advise and make recommendations on national vaccine policy. He is a member of the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Committee on Performance Measurement, which determines NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures, one of the most widely used sets of health care performance measures in the United States. Locally he serves as a member of the University of Connecticut Health Center’s board of directors, Connecticut Science Center board of trustees and was previously the Board Chairman for the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
He received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut, completed an internal medicine residency and chief residency at the University of Rochester, and received an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Rawlins is board certified in internal medicine.
